Consistent with its leadership goals on improving outcomes and on using a collaborative approach, ACMHA has connected its leadership agenda to the National Center for Healthcare Leadership (NCHL), whose Leadership Competency Model is built around the six aims of the IOM's Crossing the Quality Chasm report. Central to the College's initiative is a partnership with NCHL and that allows ACMHA to join a program which has momentum and traction.
ACMHA seeks incumbent leaders from its membership and the membership of the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare (NCCBH) and their organization's team of senior management and emerging leaders (staff, consumers, and/or family members) to be a part of the process. More⦠Eligible members are those who run service-providing behavioral health organizations. NCHL will provide the bulk of the program as this group of ACMHA/NCCBH members/leaders become beta sites for creating an NCHL behavioral health Leadership Excellent Networks (LENS).
The Leadership Initiative also includes a Minority Leadership Mentoring Program specifically focused on reaching out to members of ethnic and racial minorities working in the behavioral health field who have an interest in administration and leadership.
More information about both components of the initiative are available from Program Coordinator Neal Adams, MD (nadamsmd@pacbell.net or 408-591-2110) and the links below.
